Sports Nutrition is the manipulation of diet and nutritional strategies to enhance athletic performance. Nutrient timing, macronutrient manipulation and supplement advice will give an individual or a team the edge over their opponents and allows them to enter competition with an extra bounce.

Setanta’s qualified nutritionist, who is currently working with inter-county teams can provide a number of services to teams and individuals including educational workshops, individual player and team performance nutrition plans.

1-2-1 and Team consultations are available with our fully qualified post grad nutritionist Sarah Connolly. At Setanta we break nutrition into a number of key areas;

Food Intolerance test

Food intolerance is when the digestive system is no longer able to process particular foods as they pass down the digestve tract. The end result is the build up of many poisonous intestinal toxins, which can be in the form irritable bowel syndrome, migraine/headache, skin issues, infertility, respiratory symptoms plus many others. The symptoms of food intolerance rarely occur immedieatly after food is eaten but usually is delayed for hours or even days after food is consumed.

There are two tests available at two different budget levels. The test measures the IgA antibody levels associated with certain foods, collected through a simple prick of blood.

  • 93 Food Test -measures an intensive collection of all the major food groups such as grains, dairy, meats, fish, vegetables, fruit, nuts herbs and spices.
  • 40 food Test- measures the same food groups but a smaller collection
